Siberian Husky Rescue of NM

Kaya is a three-year old mixed breed, medium-sized dog, approximately 30-40 pounds in weight. She has one blue and one brown eye. She appears to be predominantly heeler, although we have not done a DNA test on her. She was rescued from the animal shelter shortly before she had been scheduled for euthanasia. The shelter misclassified her as a Siberian husky, which is how she ended up with Siberian Husky Rescue of New Mexico, which placed her into foster care.  Kaya is very friendly towards humans and is a champion snuggler! She also gets along very well with her foster's own Siberian husky and with other dogs at the dog park. She has not lived with kids but appears to enjoy interacting with them as much as with adult humans. She has not been tested with cats. She has a tendency to jump on people. She is medium energy and enjoys walks. It is likely that she would be an excellent family dog.  Kaya is housebroken but has had several potty accidents indoors. Her foster has also been working to crate train her. She knows "sit" and "come." Her foster also has been working to teach her other comments (e.g., "down"), although she is not a quick learner compared to other dogs he has worked with. She knows how to walk on leash, although she pulls.  She is not a picky eater and has not displayed any resource guarding issues. However, she has destroyed dog toys, leashes, harnesses. An adopter should be prepared to continue training.  ANYONE that Kaya meets, instantly fall in love with her EASY GOING and loving personality.
